Maggie and the Indian mystic:

Th Daily Mail newspaper has revealed the story of how an Indian mystic predicted Margaret Thatcher's rise  to Prime Minister and that she would hold that position for 11 years :

By Tom Kelly and Sanjay Jha.

With a strong will and no-nonsense approach to politics, Margaret Thatcher kept a grip on Downing Street for 11 years.
But while aides quickly learned her preference for clear and down-to-earth advice, it has been revealed that the Iron Lady also received early guidance from another, far more unlikely, source – an eccentric and controversial Indian mystic.
Self-professed preacher and faith healer Sri Chandraswamy sat barefoot in the lotus position in Mrs Thatcher’s Commons office during a secret meeting soon after she became leader of the Tory Opposition in 1975.
And the future prime minister was so impressed with his apparent powers that she agreed to his request to wear a special red dress and a battered talisman around her wrist to a second meeting.

Radio star publishes book on the afterlife

Barry Eaton has been a popular broadcaster and journalist in Australia for 4 decades and has never been shy to tell the public of his belief and thoughts on the afterlife. Now Allen & Unwin have released Barry's first book :

Afterlife

Uncovering the secrets of life after death
Barry Eaton

"So what does happen when someone dies? What does it feel like? Why do some people find it hard to leave places and loved ones behind? And how do people who die in accidents and other sudden deaths fare? How does our grief affect those who have passed on?
What is the tunnel experience all about? Is there any such thing as a life review? How do those who have passed over experience time? Why do they return to their soul families in spirit? Do people then reincarnate? If so, what say do they have in their life to come?
Based on his own amazing experiences of life between lives and his numerous communications with those who have passed over, Barry Eaton answers many questions about the spirit world. Well-known both as a mainstream journalist and broadcaster, and for his internet radio show RadioOutThere.com, Barry Eaton gives regular talks and lectures, as well as one-on-one sessions as a psychic intuitive."

British tabloid investigates past lives

Feel like you've been here before? Therapists say past lives can hold the key to our problems. FLIC EVERETT investigates...

Sometimes in life, we encounter physical or emotional problems that have no obvious cause. Therapy doesn’t help, pills don’t work — and it’s easy to assume you’ll be stuck with your fatal flaws for ever.
But what if there was a way of digging deep into your memory to find out just what was causing the problems — so deep that you look at what happened to you in your past lives?
The idea that we’ve been here before might sound less credible than a Doctor Who script, but, according to exponents of Past Life Regression Therapy, this kind of time travel not only exists, it’s so powerful that it can change your life.

Films that inspire : RETURN TO LIGHT: A SPIRITUAL ODYSSEY

"An astounding piece of filmmaking of personal vision!...In Return to Light, they have taken the cinema of personal expression to an extreme few filmmakers approach." (Louis B. Parks, Houston Chronicle)

When a man's life is shattered by the sudden loss of his wife, he is forced for the first time to seriously confront the questions of life and death. As he grapples with the nature of his own oppressive reality, he becomes intuitively aware of his wife's presence. Soon he is able to freely communicate with his departed bride in their own private reality. Dealing with such concepts as "fate", "reincarnation" and "a higher purpose" of human life, she guides him step by step towards a greater spiritual awareness. The key element in this spiritual evolution is his quest for the Holy Grail and his recollection of "the greatest event of all time and the greatest tragedy" in human history that occurred in Germany in the years before the outbreak of WWII. The film is dedicated to the German philosopher Abd-ru-shin, whose life and spiritual writings have inspired the directors deeply. Alexander Sokurov, the world-famous director of "Russian Ark" and "Mother and Son", has declared that RETURN TO LIGHT is "a light-bearing work, professionally bright....I am sure that such films doubtlessly have to be made."

PLEASE NOTE: THERE"S A DISPUTE CONCERNING ONE OF THE PIECES ON THE SOUNTRACK, SO YOUTUBE HAS PULLED THE ENTIRE AUDIO. IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE ENTIRE FILM, PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW. MANY THANKS!

Studying Spiritualism at Lily Dale

One of the best ways to 'study' Spiritualism is to attend large numbers of services although this can be a bit difficult in Australia because of the scarcity of churches. There are however a number of fine Spiritualist churches in every Australian state capital as well as some country areas.

Over the coming weeks we will bring you a list of churches known to Enmore who provide facilities for persons to train as a medium and attend meditation classes-often where people start to get a good feel for the religion. There really is no one place better than the other in that training to be a medium is a very personal thing but discipline and a calm atmosphere can make all the difference !

Many Australians, great world travellers that they are, travel to some of the world's best areas to study or experience Spiritualism in a new land. It can be a richly rewarding experience.

Lily Dale in New York State is not only one of the oldest US centres for Spiritualism, it is a charming hamlet with a hotel and cottages to rent so you can spend time there in an 'atmosphere' of Spiritualism.  The countryside is beautiful. All the small houses in Lily Dale are owned by Spiritualists and when they are sold on, they must be sold to another Spiritualist.

From Lily Dale's own website :

"Center for Spiritualist Studies
Welcome to the Center for Spiritualist Studies (CSS) in Lily Dale, New York. We are fortunate to be located within Lily Dale Assembly where many very famous spiritual leaders have walked upon the grounds. Lily Dale is one of the most recognized sites of Spiritualism in the USA, and perhaps the world.
The Center is incorporated as a religious seminary by the New York State Board of Regents. The goal of the curriculum is the training of Spiritualist Clergy, Teachers, Mediums and Healers. Enrollment information and catalogs are now available for all CSS Diploma and Certificate programs.

Our Purpose and Mission
The Center for Spiritualist Studies is structured with a threefold purpose:
  • To provide for the spiritual needs of the individual.
  • To train Spiritualist clergy, teachers, mediums and healers to be equipped to effectively serve humanity in a religious capacity.
  • To serve the practical educational and certification requirements of the National Spiritualist Association of Churches and other Spiritualist organizations.
In the broader sense the curriculum are designed to educate students to contribute productively to society while extending and enriching the Science, Philosophy, and Religion of Modern Spiritualism.

What is Spiritualism ?

Often people are unaware that some Spiritualists are not psychic, and some psychics are not Spiritualists although the 2 often overlap.

As an example, the well known TV psychic John Edwards until recently never referred to himself as a Spiritualist. In the last 2 years he has.

For a brief history of the beginnings of Spiritualism with the famous Fox Sisters in the USA go to the Wikipedia  website.

Most of the Churches in Australia are run independently of each other although most hold  the same types of services.

In England the religion has always been more organised with 2 umbrella groups -the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain-SAGB located in a beautiful building in London's Belgrave Square (although they are moving at present to a nearby more modern building) and the  Spiritualists National Union SNU headquartered at Stansted Hall, about 40 miles outside London.

In the USA many churches belong to the National Spiritualist Association of Churches NSAC at the wonderful Lily Dale in New York State.

It is difficult to work out the numbers of Spiritualists in Australia. In the UK Spiritualism is the 6th largest religion but with around 42,000 adherents it is still small compared to the population of approx 61 million people.

All Spiritualist Churches have the same 7 principals (from the NSAC ). However the wording may differ :
  1. We believe in God.
  2. We believe that God is expressed through all Nature.
  3. True religion is living in obedience to Nature's Laws.
  4. We never die.
  5. Spiritualism proves that we can talk with people in the Spirit World.
  6. Be kind, do good, and others will do likewise.
  7. We bring unhappiness to ourselves by the errors we make and we will be happy if we obey the laws of life.
  8. Everyday is a new beginning.
  9. Prophecy and healing are expressions of God.
Stansted Hall
For a greater explanation of these principals go to their website here

The SNU gives this definition of Spiritualism :

" Spiritualism is a religion that gives an understanding of God and encourages us to act with a high sense of duty towards others. Spiritualism stimulates spiritual growth and prepares us for eternal existence in the spirit-world.

Spiritualism is a science because it is based upon proven facts that can be demonstrated and scientifically classified. Spiritualism is the science of life as it encourages the search for truth in every department of existence, in nature and in human psychology.

Spiritualism is a philosophy that attempts to understand people, their physical, intellectual, moral, and spiritual being. As Spirit is the moving force of the Universe, so Spiritualist philosophy embraces the whole realm of nature."

Spiritualist Lionel Logue & 'The King's Speech"

Lionel & his beloved Myrtle
It seems The King's Speech is proving a big hit with Australian audiences and the talk in Hollywood is of the film sweeping the boards at the Academy Awards.
The speech therapist Lionel Logue became a life long friend of King George V1 but what is less known is that when his beloved wife Myrtle died in 1945 Logue, until then a Christian Scientist became a believer in Spiritualism and regularly attended services to see if he would get messages from his wife. Logue died in 1953.
The Sydney Morning Herald today writes about him :

Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue honed his skills with shell-shocked soldiers. Then came his biggest challenge - a stammering future monarch, writes Steve Meacham.
Fleet Street labelled him ''The Quack Who Saved The King''. Some reporters went still further, questioning whether the British monarchy would have survived the Abdication crisis in 1936 without the intervention of an obscure self-taught speech therapist from Australia.
King George V1
They even speculated whether the famed spirit of the Blitz would have been quite so resolute had ''Bertie'' - King George VI - not made his calming radio broadcasts to a nation at war. Yet since Lionel George Logue died in April 1953, his name has faded into obscurity, hardly warranting a historical footnote.

"Life in the World Unseen" by Anthony Borgia
gives one of the most comprehensive accounts of what follows physical death. Received through the clairaudient mediumship of Anthony Borgia, an old friend to the author, Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson, who was himself a son of a former Bishop of Canterbury.  It strongly supports and  emphasizes the cause & effect relationship that exists between this life and the next.  The information contained in this book was conveyed from the spirit world to a friend and acquaintance,  so it is told in the first person, as one who now resides in the spirit world.

Picton haunted hunters are ghost busted

PICTON is world famous for being a hive of supernatural activity, but it is now in mortal danger of becoming a different type of ghost town.
Business leaders in the rural community, southwest of Sydney, are mourning the death of the town's ghost tours after the local shire council forced the closure of the popular attraction.
The business was forced to shut its doors after residents complained the tours attracted hooligans who trespassed, threw eggs at houses, screamed late at night and did burnouts in their cars.
Seven people lost their jobs and the Picton Chamber of Commerce fears more could be at risk with petrol stations, restaurants and motels directly affected.
